The Big Chill Festival – Spencer Tunick’s latest Installation

10 August 2010 | by: annabel

Jenny, our resident PR Guru, and trained makeup artist, spent the weekend in a field in Herefordshire, all in the name of a festival called The Big Chill:

Highlights of the festival included Kelis (looking stunning in a Cleopatra-inspired wig and gold dress), Plan B, Newton Faulkner (who did an amazing rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody!), Paloma Faith and Lily Allen. However the main event (and the reason I was there) was to assist in Spencer Tunick’s latest installation. He is a world renowned artist whose work consists of nude people posed in artistic formations, often photographed in key locations around the world, such as Sydney Opera House, and Gateshead Millennium Bridge. This time he wanted to use body paint to highlight tones, colour and landscape, and that’s where I came in. Along with 24 other makeup artists, we painted approximately 750 people in a block colour of either pink, navy blue, turquoise, black or yellow, covering every inch of skin. The result was a breathtaking visual celebrating the human form as the pictures show, can’t wait to see the finished images when Spencer shows them in his next exhibition!!
